On Thursday 10th October 2024, several Government members on the Rustopia US Large server “took a bus” from the Gov village on the east coast “over to Reptar’s village” in the north-west “under the premise that we were weary travelers and needed vehicle repairs. Then we made our move. Mistakes were made. People died. But in the end, the bus made it home in one piece, which is all that really matters.“

Two short videos of the incident were shared in the Government Discord server. It’s not clear if anything in particular kicked off the violence – the setting was calm, with the majority of those present in the church being seated in pews while one player paced back and forth by the front row while giving a sermon. Just before the incident started, the preacher was explaining what sounded like the story of The Forbidden Fruit, saying: “this one group will reveal everything to them, and it will stray them from God. Now God said, if you eat this fruit-“

The preacher stopped when a player in the front row that clearly couldn’t stand the word of Moses was possessed to shoot at Reptar. The innocent Reptar had been providing music for the service, and became the first victim of the unprovoked slaughter. The preacher produced a gun of his own and pointed it towards the sinner, but in the shortest of moments, another wicked player in the front row fired at the preacher.

The preacher was struck down, and the resulting chaos was difficult to follow – players sprung from their seats and attacked eachother with guns and knives, while the unarmed yelled and screamed as they ran away from the carnage. Just as the chaos started, one player walked up to the entrance of the church and repeatedly shouted “The lord has returned, the lord has returned!” Atleast ten players were killed.

One of the witnesses (coincidentally named Battling_demons) stated that “some Government clan” was responsible for the attack, claiming that “they ended up coming in while he was holding a service and started shooting everybody.” Reptar was aware of the Government’s contribution to the massacre, but it didn’t appear to harm relations between the villages too badly, as Reptar described the incident as “hilarious“. It had been less than a year since the Government’s last documented involvement in a massacre.
