The Rustopia US Large server had most recently wiped on 3rd August 2023. A Government art gallery on the server had been standing for nearly a month when it was burglarised on 2nd Sept. The small gallery room stood on a series of frames, and the “heist” involved a thief blowing up through the vulnerable floor of the toolcupboard to then steal all 7 paintings.

Project RADAR detected over 2,000 bases on the map; trying to track down the stolen paintings would have been more difficult than producing more. Ultimately, the majority of Government members had moved to a Rustinity 2x server – the paintings were considered lost.

But 5 days later (on the last day of the wipe) one player admitted to the theft and described the missing paintings, and (perhaps ironically) explained that they had lost 4 of the paintings when their own base was raided.

So the thief only had possession of three of the original paintings, and in an unexpected twist they had returned them to the dropbox of a building next to the gallery (Blockhouse 53), although the UFO wasn’t among them. Just before the server wiped, the three paintings were hung back in the gallery where they belonged.
