Rustopia US Large – September 2022

Last month, Mr. President brokered an alliance between The Government and Shellybear, who styles herself as Queen of the Zerg.

Like many before her, Shelly became terrified after joining the Government’s Discord and discovering how small her group was in comparison. Shelly likes things big, so she made some calls and did some things to bolster her numbers for the next wipe.

The alliance on Rustopia Large continued into September and the two groups agreed to build close to one another. While the Government selflessly built public works projects such as a new branch of Oxum’s Gas Station and a staircase to scale a massive cliff, Shelly’s army erected an absurdly large structure.

Tension between the groups began to increase as it became clear that Shelly was planning to betray the Government at the earliest opportunity. Turrets were deployed along the shore, and a bridge with no underpass for boats was built in an attempt to deny the Government’s navy access to the bay area.

Once windmills and water catchers were destroyed and a raid base was constructed right outside of Government territory, it was clear that diplomacy had failed. Shelly was sent to Ban Court, where she was unanimously found guilty. In her trial, she made the following statement to explain her actions:

And promptly fled the courtroom as her army loaded rockets into their launchers. The attack began in earnest. Despite taking an early advantage, Government troops rallied together to defend the initial raid target. Even though the Government had countless structures deployed, an attack on one is an attack on all.

A bloody trench battle erupted, spanning several hours and expending thousands of rounds of ammo and dozens of rockets. Shelly’s group isn’t used to performing for long periods of time, and the Government pushed them back through the breach and forced them to do something they don’t usually have to do: pull out. They fled back across the water with their tails hanging limp between their legs.

After their raid attempt ended in humiliating defeat, chaos erupted in global communications as the entire population began to choose sides. Some proclaimed their undying support or hatred at Shelly while others condemned the Government for having hundreds of members. Dictator Salty was muted for violating FCC regulations.

When asked to comment on why she chose to betray the Government, Shelly had this to say before disappearing for the night:

The Generals now believe that Shelly’s group will be unable to upkeep their structures and are evacuating their loot to a secret location, fully expecting the Government to retaliate in full force at the earliest opportunity. With character defamation at an all-time high, only one thing is certain: this conflict only ends when one side or the other has been evicted from Rustopia US Large.
