Shrek paintings spark total war

The Government built a village around an Oasis on Rustafied US Long III for the August 2025 wipe. An art gallery was built in the village in the style of a Blockbuster outlet, featuring paintings of DVD covers, such as Shrek and Shrek 2. The tools to upkeep the gallery were kept in the Blockbuster Office nearby.

An opposing group that built a couple of grids away had kept trespassing into the village, and would murder unarmed villagers that were hanging around Blockbuster, which slowed work on the paintings. In response, the murderers would get shot at by a villager from the Blockbuster Office that was armed with a revolver. The murderers did not have a formal clan name, and would repeatedly shout at the villagers about this “roofcamping” from the Blockbuster Office, earning themselves the nickname The Shouters.

The conflict gradually escalated – the Shouter’s base was constantly active, made obvious by them (hypocritically) firing sniper rifles from their roof into the village as they tried to shoot the villagers. At one point, the Shouters sent a “rat” into the village, which was believed to be an attempt to sneakily loot any villagers that got sniped, but the villagers simply said hello to him, and the snipers couldn’t land enough hits to get a kill.

None of the local groups respected the Shouters, as evidenced by one of the groups conducting a 75 minute long raid against the Shouter’s base, hitting it with atleast 65 rockets, which the Government decided not to counter. The Shouters were furious, and rebuilt their base, and then gathered and spent an estimated half a million sulfur to offline-raid all the local bases over the next few nights.

In particular, they launched an MLRS strike against the Blockbuster Office and raided it twice, and griefed it. The office only contained tools to upkeep Blockbuster. The Shouters didn’t even bother to loot the tools – they were clearly spending sulfur just to ruin every base around them. I think the Shouters might have been upset partly because a villager had used a crossbow to shoot down their Minicopter, having killed the pilot with an arrow and then captured the aircraft after it crashed.

The Government President responded with Mission Terrorise R2, which involved laying an extensive minefield to surround the Shouter’s base at R2. Landmines were heard exploding as the Shouters tried reaching some of the local monuments. It was speculated that the Shouters wasted teas by losing the tea boosts when killed by the mines.

Perhaps the clearest moment of escalation happened on 12th August, when the Shouters destroyed the Shrek paintings in Blockbuster. The painter then began a guerrilla war, which involved a variety of devious tactics. The Shouters discovered that their ladders, twig building parts, exposed electricals, and industrial parts had been destroyed. The painter sneakily destroyed dozens of the Shouter’s fish traps, and then later said in chat “fish traps decay pretty quickly huh“.

All the resource nodes around R2 were left with few resources, and Wooden Floor Spikes were placed in bushes. The Shouter’s outside sleeping bags were all renamed to Shrek’s Ghost. The Shouters seemed to be angered the most by their turrets being drained, but they didn’t turn them off. The Shouters fruitlessly tried to destroy the guerrilla’s sleeping bags, and had been abusive to one of the guerrillas.

On 17th August, the Shouters were offered a peace condition – if they built an art gallery that featured 2 Shrek paintings, then the guerrillas would stop, but no such art gallery was built, so the conflict continued. Many of the Shouter’s turrets were drained or destroyed when they went inactive on 20th August – the turrets had importantly been protecting many boxes inside their compound that were hooked up to a shoddy industrial system – the loot was taken out to sea and dumped.

The Shouters were still absent on 21st August, so after a few more licks of griefing, the guerrillas also left the server, and then wrote a guide on guerrilla warfare.
